About

A little about me.

The quick version is on the homepage. Here's the longer one.

A little about me

I grew up in Toronto and went through the IB diploma at Upper Canada College before moving to Bloomington, Indiana for Indiana University. I graduated with a degree in Public Financial Management from the O'Neill School, with a minor in Marketing from the Kelley School of Business.

In school I spent three years on the IU Funding Board and eventually ran it as Executive Director, which is where I learned how money actually moves through an organization and how to make the case for it. I also interned at a commercial real estate firm in Toronto, working on finance, reconciliation, tax, and the structuring behind a large acquisition.

Today I work in mortgage lending at Milestone Home Lending in Bloomington, Indiana, focused on the builder and new-construction side of the market.

What I'm interested in

Finance, real estate, and the places they overlap with business and technology.

Mortgage lending is my job right now, but it sits inside a broader set of interests: real estate, finance, entrepreneurship, and technology, and especially the overlap between them. I like markets, I like building small tools, and I'm drawn to problems where the right number, shown the right way, changes what someone decides to do.

What I'm working on

Right now, a handful of things at once: a rent-versus-own calculator that's live and in use, a rate-intelligence terminal I'm building to explain where mortgage rates are going and why, and a marketing system that lays out buydown scenarios for agents. The common thread is the same one that runs through all of it — take something complicated, make it clear enough to act on, and put it in front of the person who needs it.

Outside of work

When I'm not working, I'm usually reading about markets or building something small. I like problems that end in a number. Most of what ends up on this site started as me trying to understand something for myself, and deciding the explanation was worth keeping.
